Hector, Minnesota is a town on the way to everywhere, located along the junction of State Highway 4 and U.S. Highway 212.  This town of 1000 is on the way for folks traveling to and from the lakes or main route west to South Dakota or east to the Twin Cities.

            Located 1/2 block from the intersection of Highways 212 and 4 is Hill's Unique Gifts; a shop filled with gifts, collectibles, lawn ornaments, handmade and holiday creations.

            When customers stop by the 8000 + square foot gift shop, they will find a store with friendly folks who are always eager to please the customer.

            Johnnie Hill, originally from Gary, South Dakota, owned the business for over 50 years.  Johnnie bought the gas station at the intersection of Highways 212 and 4 in the early 1950's.  He met Polly Grengs, originally from St. Leo, Minnesota.  They were united in marraige in January of 1961.  In 1970 They purchased ONE pick up load of cement ornaments to "make the gas station look nice"  - and so the ornament business began. 

            Johnnie and Polly have two children, Teri and Dan.  They also have two grand children, Alexa and Jonathan.

            Polly has managed Polly's Neatop beauty salon since 1961.

            Teri has worked along side her father at the gift shop since the mid 70's. Johnnie passed away on November 14, 2010,  and Teri  will continue to manage the gift shop.

            Dan joined the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge after 20 years of service to our country. He is now an armed security specialist at a large hospital near Kansas City, Missouri.

            Hill's Unique Gifts handles items from all over, and they even make some themselves including; windchimes, plant stands and Christmas decorations.

            The cement lawn ornaments have come from as far away as Canada to Missouri.  The wooden lawn ornaments come from Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Minnesota.  The butterflies come from Texas.  Most of the lawn ornaments are built right here in the great state of Minnesota.

            Hill's Unique Gifts tries to carry unique items.  They have a saying, if you can not find it anywhere else, you can probably find it at Hill's Unique Gifts.

            In the springtime, you will find a wide variety of bedding plants along with the outdoor ornaments.

            During the holiday season you will find a wide variety of Christmas items, including; lights, garland, trees, ornaments and many other seasonal items.

            People travel for miles to visit Hill's Unique Gifts in Hector, Minnesota.

            Stop in and say "HI" the next time you go through Hector,  you will be glad you did.
